About Johnhttp://www.myspace.com/mrjohnhell Welcome to A Season In Hell. My tastes run the gamut of every genre, though I tend not to listen to anything considered to be commercial. Well, no boy bands anyway. You won't find anything in the top 100 on my site, unless it's from 1972. My tastes seem to change from week to week. I have an extensive CD and vinyl collection (over 15,000 and growing). I've beeen digitizing my LPs for the last few years, so you should hear some rarities from time to time. Each show will showcase different genres. Everything from funk to punk to junk. I enjoy Jazz from the pre-bop age, to avant-garde artists like John Zorn. I also am a long standing Dead-Head, so you'll hear a few choice live cuts from time to time. I do trade my live music, which you can find here: http://db.etree.org/johnhell Send me an email, and let me know if you are interested in a trade. Other artists on my plate these days include Japanese ambiant/noise Boris, Southern Belle Cat Power, classic Minutemen, always rockin' Cheap Trick, the songwriting prowess of Midlake, Dylan, Bikini Kill, Damon & Naomi, Jeff Buckley, Polkacide, Tony Bennett, Sugar Hill Gang, James Brown; you name it, I probably have something by them. Requests and suggestions are always welcome. As a former DJ at KFJC (http://www.kfjc.org) I was schooled in the finer art of what is truly considered to be alternative to the mainstream. My goal is to upload at least once a week. Like any fine art, it'll take me a few weeks to get in the groove, but once I do, I'm hoping this show will taste like a fine wine: full bodied, with a lasting impression, that you'll go back to time and again.
